There are a number of separate classifications for the British Gravel Championships, with men’s and women’s races in each.
Masters Championships
For the vast majority of our participants, the Masters Championship race is for you. Racing will take place in Masters age groups and a National Champion will be crowned in each.
Junior Championships
This is the perfect race if you’re 16, 17 or 18 on 31 December 2024 and want to compete for the title of Junior British Gravel Champion.
Elite Championships
The Elite Championships are reserved for the countries very best gravel racers. You should have extensive gravel racing experience at the highest level to enter this race category.
Each of the above age/gender groups and elite/junior classifications has its own start time and pen. Competitors MUST complete their race to be included in the results and in with a chance of winning the title.
Podium places in each will be awarded to the three fastest British riders in each group based upon ‘gun time’.
You must be aged 19 or over on 31st December 2024.
Anyone aged 16, 17, or 18 on 31st December 2024 can compete in the Junior Race.
No. You do not need a race licence to enter the British Gravel Championships.
No, you don’t have to be a member of a club to take part in any races at the British Gravel Championships.
All participants are split into either Elite, Junior or their respective Masters age groups. So if you enter as a group made up of men and women in different age groups, you will be starting your race in separate age group pens.
For both men and women the Masters age groups are as follows;
19-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+
These ages refer to the rider’s age on December 31st in the year of the event.
Yes they are. Men and women will ride the same distances in all races.
No. You do not require a medical certificate to enter the event but if you have a medical condition that may be affected by the event, you may need your GPs advice on taking part.
We ask all riders to fill in the medical questionnaire on the back of their rider bib number to ensure that the best medical treatment is provided should it be necessary.
The podium positions are determined from the first three British riders over the finish line in each age group.
Event organisers will provide riders with water and snacks close to the finish line after the event. Various food outlets will be available within the Event Village for riders to purchase from.
There are no finisher medals for the British Gravel Championships.
